Overview

A violent creature, known to have hunted new settlers arriving in White Bluff during the 1920s. The most famous story of its attacks describes the White Bluff Screamer as tormenting a family with its howling screams, luring the father of the family out to hunt for it so that his home would be left defenseless. While the Screamer hasn't definitively been spotted in many years, those familiar with its history know to keep their eyes and ears open for its presence.

Reported Characteristics

The White Bluff Screamer has only ever been seen a handful of times, and the most notable sign of its presence are its eponymous screams, known for causing paranoia and even insomnia for those living on the edge of its territory. When it was spotted, the Screamer was described as a towering figure "twice the size of a man", covered in a cloak of white fur or hair. Some reports go as far as calling it ethereal, shrouded in mist and floating off the ground.

Historical Context

Once a Union Army fort, the town of White Bluff was founded in 1867, and census reports show it growing steadily over the years, which is in line with how traditional stories of the White Bluff Screamer describe new families arriving to town throughout the early 20th century.

Assessment

While the story of the White Bluff Screamer seems to paint it as a rare occurrence that hasn't been spotted in nearly 100 years, it is said that its wails can still be heard at historic cabins throughout the White Bluff area. Given that all reports of its behavior describe it as highly aggressive and clever enough to misdirect its victims, extreme caution is advised for any curious cryptozoologists.
