Bigfoot

📍 Across the United States First Reported: 1958 Status: Photographic Evidence Danger: Moderate

Overview

Bigfoot (otherwise known as 'Sasquatch') is one of the most well-known cryptids in the world. Although many of the most famous Bigfoot sightings have happened in the Pacific Northwest, this infamous creature has also been spotted many times in Tennessee, particularly in areas along the Duck River.

Reported Characteristics

Sasquatch are known for their imposing height, long fur, and their eponymous 'big feet'. While there have been many sightings of such creatures throughout North America, reports from Tennessee seem to consistently describe Bigfoot as highly territorial, only revealing itself to ward off nearby wildlife or would-be trespassers.

Geographic Range

Bigfoot has been spotted all across North America, most notably out west. Within the state of Tennessee, most witness accounts of Bigfoot seem to take place along the Duck River, with several notable sightings in Hickman County and Maury County.

Assessment

Given the consistency of sightings concentrated along the Duck River, many local cryptozoologists believe the area to be part of some kind of sasquatch migratory path. As arguably the most famous of all cryptids, new sightings happen often, with a highly active Bigfoot tracking community all across the nation.
